Step 6 Media bias

Hi Sophie,

Step 6 was very timely for me after our call today.  The main principle that I got out of it is ‘ slow is smooth and smooth is fast’, in a different set of words.

It really made me think though- I never considered the huge part that media bias plays in conveying that success comes pretty quickly without too much effort…that it  forms our internal timelines for success- money, fitness, etc. I can totally see it though, that we never see the process, because it’s not a good story.  I believe that also because of the media and TV in general, even if they showed the process people wouldn’t have the attention span to hang in there & watch it.

I also found it timely not just because I naturally try to rush the process, but because I hadn’t seen that the whole work  we’re doing here is just that, a process.  Not my personal obstacle course to win at all cost, but just a process- it’s not about me, I just get to participate like everybody else.

I also saw as a principle the concept of looking at my life as a sculpture…Picking a rock that fits my general direction, and then chipping away at it, again as a process…seeing it unfold as it unfolds, as I chip away at it, and perfecting  & beautifying the different areas over time… it’s a beautiful way of looking at it as a process.

I took away from it that It should be simple, but not too easy…. I would think that as I build the skill of assessing, I will also get better at assessing when something looks to be easier than it could possibly be . I can see now that as obvious as that sounds, when I judge, I don’t even take something like that into consideration- it’s like it’s a side I’m completely blind to.

I believe I saw yet another side of ‘ slow is smooth and smooth is fast’ today, in perfect conjunction with starting to see that this whole thing is just a process, not a life or death performance evaluation.

So I enjoyed the brief & fleeting few minutes of extrinsic that my big toe got to enjoy, and I’m considering that I started the climb & slipped & fell back down, and I’m ready to do it again. 😊

Thank you again Sophie.

Jodie
